Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using lothority.com (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. You're responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your password secure and notify us of any unauthorized use.

3. Expert content

You retain ownership of the content you upload (website text, documents, FAQs, profile info, headshots — your "Content"). You grant Lothority a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, process, embed, display, and transmit your Content solely to operate the Service — including sending relevant snippets to third-party AI providers to generate chat responses on your behalf.

You represent that you own or have permission to use everything you upload.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload illegal, infringing, harmful, hateful, or sexually explicit content.
• Impersonate another person or business.
• Use the Service to give regulated professional advice (legal, medical, financial) without proper licensing and disclosures.
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or abuse the API or chat infrastructure.
• Send spam, phishing, or unsolicited messages to leads collected via the Service.

We may suspend or remove any account or content that violates these rules.

5. AI-generated responses

Bots use large language models that can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or out-of-date answers. Responses are not professional advice. Experts are responsible for the configuration of their bot and for following up with visitors as needed. Visitors should verify important information directly with the expert.

6. Leads & visitor data

If you (the expert) receive lead contact info through the Service, you become an independent controller of that data and must comply with applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, CAN-SPAM, etc.) when contacting those people.

7. Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk to the Service or other users.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI responses will be accurate.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lothority's total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Lothority is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
