Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Lothority ("we", "us") operates lothority.com, a directory where local business experts publish AI chatbots trained on their own knowledge so visitors can ask questions 24/7. This policy explains what we collect from experts and visitors, why, and what your rights are.

2. Information we collect

From experts (account holders):

• Account info: email address, password (hashed), display name.
• Profile info you provide: business name, bio, city/region, headshot, website, contact email/phone.
• Knowledge content you upload: website URLs we crawl, documents, FAQs, and the text/embeddings derived from them.
• Bot configuration: greeting, tone, starter questions, lead-capture preferences.

From visitors (people chatting with bots):

• Chat messages you send and the bot's responses.
• An anonymous visitor token (random ID stored in your browser) so we can group your messages into a conversation.
• Lead info you choose to submit (name, email, message) — only if you opt in.

3. How we use your information

• Operate the service: render expert profiles, run AI chats, deliver leads to experts.
• Generate vector embeddings of expert knowledge so bots can answer relevant questions.
• Help experts review conversations to improve their bots.
• Protect the service from abuse, spam, and fraud.
• Communicate service-related updates to experts.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Who we share data with

• Hosting & database: Lovable Cloud, which stores accounts, content, conversations, and files.
• AI providers: chat messages and relevant knowledge snippets are sent to large language model providers (e.g. Google Gemini, OpenAI) to generate responses.
• Experts: if you submit a lead through a bot, that lead is shared with the expert who owns the bot.
• Legal: when required by law or to protect rights and safety.

These third parties act as our sub-processors and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments. We do not authorize them to use your data for any purpose other than providing services to us.

5. Cookies & tracking

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a small visitor token in browser storage to associate chat messages with a conversation. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

6. Data retention

Expert accounts & content: kept until the expert deletes them.

Conversations: by default, retained so experts can review them. Each expert can choose an auto-delete window (30, 90, 180, or 365 days), after which a daily cleanup job permanently removes the chat transcript. Experts can also delete individual conversations or bulk-clear old chats from their dashboard at any time.

Leads: retained until the expert deletes them, since leads are the contact info you voluntarily shared so the expert can follow up.

Visitors: you can clear the chat in your browser at any time using the "Clear" button in the chat window. To request server-side deletion of conversations or leads tied to your contact info, email us at the address in section 11.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent for optional processing (such as lead capture). To exercise these rights, email us at the address in section 11. We will respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Our lawful basis for processing chat messages is our legitimate interest in operating the service. Lead submissions are processed based on your consent, given when you submit the lead form.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures (TLS in transit, encryption at rest, row-level security in the database). No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong password and notify us of any suspected unauthorized access.

9. Children

Lothority is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new "last updated" date.
